Tyson Fury confirms third Usyk fight at Wembley
Tyson Fury has confirmed he will face Oleksandr Usyk for a third time in a blockbuster heavyweight showdown dubbed “The Trilogy” – set for 18 April 2026 at London’s Wembley Stadium.
The 36-year-old British boxing star made the announcement on his Instagram on Thursday, 3 July, just months after retiring from the sport following his second defeat to the Ukrainian champion.
But the news has been met with mixed reactions, with many fans urging Fury to finally step into the ring with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua instead.

Fury’s quest for redemption
Fury’s surprise comeback follows his unanimous decision loss to Usyk in December 2024 – their second bout after Usyk also edged a split-decision victory in May 2024.
Speaking at the IBA Pro Event in Istanbul on Wednesday, 2 July, Fury hinted at his plans, saying: “I want my fair shout, and I don’t believe I’ve got a fair shout the last two times. I don’t know what I’m going to have to do, because I can’t let it go to a decision.”
But he also left the door open for a historic all-British clash with Joshua, calling it “the biggest British boxing fight that will ever happen” if the Usyk rematch falls through.
A rollercoaster career
Fury’s career has been anything but predictable. After retiring in April 2022 following his win over Dillian Whyte, he returned six months later to fight Derek Chisora.
The two-time heavyweight champion first claimed the world title in 2015 by dethroning Wladimir Klitschko before a hiatus from the sport.
His dramatic comeback saw him defeat Deontay Wilder in 2020 to become WBC champion, defending the belt twice more.
But after a close call against Francis Ngannou in 2023, Fury suffered back-to-back losses to Usyk – leading to his retirement in January 2025. Now, he’s back for one more shot at glory.
Fury vs Joshua – still the dream fight?
While Fury’s announcement sets up a decisive third chapter with Usyk, many British fans are still clamouring for the long-awaited Fury vs Joshua bout.
With both fighters now in their mid-30s, time is running out for what could be the biggest British boxing match in history.
Will Fury get his revenge against Usyk? Or will he finally face Joshua? One thing’s certain – the heavyweight division just got a lot more interesting.
