Ibrahim Fuseini delivered a blistering performance to win the men’s 100m at the ATX Sprint Classic in Texas, United States, clocking a wind-assisted 9.85 seconds in a thrilling final on Saturday, 28 June.

The 22-year-old Ghanaian sprinter, a key figure in securing his nation’s 4x100m relay qualification for the 2025 World Athletics Championships, overcame stiff competition at the Southwestern University Track Stadium to claim gold.

From heat struggles to final triumph

Fuseini’s path to victory wasn’t straightforward. He finished third in Heat 1 with a time of 10.11 seconds, trailing Bahamian Terrence Jones (10.08 seconds) and American Dapriest Hogans (10.10 seconds).

But when it mattered most, the young sprinter surged ahead, shaving a staggering 0.93 seconds off his heat time to dominate the final.

His 9.85 seconds finish—aided by a strong tailwind—edged out the United States’ David Foster (9.95 seconds) by a tenth of a second, while Hogans matched Foster’s time to take bronze.
