Manchester United are set to make Wolves forward Matheus Cunha their first signing of the summer transfer window, with the Brazilian due to undergo a medical after the Red Devils triggered his £62.5m release clause.

The 26-year-old, who has been a standout performer for Wolves this season, is now on the verge of completing his move to Old Trafford after United agreed to pay the fee in three instalments over two years – meeting Wolves’ demands after initially proposing a five-year payment plan.

Cunha eager for United move despite European absence

Despite Manchester United’s failure to qualify for European competition, Cunha is reportedly “excited” to join Ruben Amorim’s side, viewing the club as one of the world’s biggest.

The Brazil international has attracted interest from other clubs but has his heart set on a switch to the Theatre of Dreams.

A stellar season at Wolves

Cunha has been in scintillating form for Wolves, netting 17 goals and providing six assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.

His dynamic attacking play and versatility have made him a key target for United as they look to bolster their forward line ahead of the new Premier League season.

What’s next?

With personal terms not expected to be an issue, Cunha’s medical is the final hurdle before the deal is officially announced.

United fans will be hoping the Brazilian can replicate his Wolves form in the famous red shirt.
