Ghanaian sprint sensation Isaac Botsio has once again proven his dominance on the track, successfully defending his men’s 100m title at the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in a nail-biting finish.

The 25-year-old, representing West Texas A&M University, clocked a wind-assisted 9.94 seconds to edge out Nigeria’s Olaolu Olatunde (9.95 seconds) and America’s Dapriest Hogans (9.99 seconds) in a photo-finish showdown.

His victory marks back-to-back golds in the event, having won last year with a similarly wind-aided 9.98 seconds.

A rocky start to glory

Botsio’s path to gold wasn’t smooth sailing. He struggled in the preliminaries, finishing third in his heat (10.05 seconds) and seventh overall, barely scraping into the finals.

But when it mattered most, the Ghanaian star delivered, shaving 0.04 seconds off his 2024 winning time in a blistering display of speed.

Double gold: Botsio relay triumph

The Accra-born sprinter didn’t stop at the 100m—he also helped West Texas A&M retain their men’s 4x100m relay crown in a dramatic final.

Alongside teammates Jerry Jakpa (Nigeria), Jace Lynch (USA), and compatriot James Dadzie, the quartet clocked 39.43 seconds, narrowly missing their 2024 record by 0.01 seconds.

Their victory over Minnesota State (39.71 seconds) and Harding University (39.72 seconds) sealed a golden double for Botsio, cementing his status as one of NCAA Division II’s most electrifying sprinters.
