Ghana begin quest for World Championship spot in Morocco
Ghana’s national beach volleyball teams are set to launch their 2025 CAVB Continental Championship campaign on Wednesday, 25 June, in Morocco, with hopes of securing a spot at the FIVB World Championships.
The week-long tournament, held at Martil Beach, will see Ghana’s men’s and women’s teams battle it out in their respective groups, aiming for a place at the global stage in Australia.
Tough group battles ahead
Ghana’s men’s pairs face stiff competition. Emmanuel Adamitey and Nicholas Tetteh, drawn in Pool H, will take on teams from Burundi, Benin, and Egypt.
Meanwhile, Paul Akan and Abdul Hameed Ibrahim, in Pool G, go head-to-head with rivals from Kenya and Nigeria.
The women’s teams are equally determined. Grace Dagadu and Joana Mensah, placed in Pool F, will compete against Rwanda, The Gambia, and Mozambique. Rashaka Katadat and Benedicta Akorli, in Pool E, face tough opposition from Egypt and Burundi.
Ghana’s opening day fixtures
The action begins early for Ghana, with back-to-back matches. At 9:00 AM (GMT), Dagadu and Mensah open their campaign against The Gambia, followed by Katadat and Akorli’s clash with Burundi at 10:00 AM (GMT).
The men’s teams take over in the afternoon. Adamitey and Tetteh meet Burundi at 2:00 PM (GMT), while Akan and Ibrahim battle Nigeria at 4:00 PM (GMT).
The day concludes with two more crucial matches at 6:00 PM (GMT), as Adamitey and Tetteh face Benin, and Dagadu and Mensah take on Rwanda.
Road to the World Championships
This tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2025 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Australia.
Ghana’s squad, led by head coach Seidu Ajanako and assistant Chapnuor Eden, is determined to make history.
