Genoa plot €10m move for relegated Southampton’s Sulemana

Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has emerged as a transfer target for Serie A side Genoa ahead of the 2025/2026 season, Le Press Box understands.

The 23-year-old Ghana international endured a difficult campaign with the Saints, managing just two goals and three assists in 30 appearances as the club suffered relegation from the Premier League.

Southampton finished with a meagre 12 points – just one above Derby County’s infamous top-flight record low of 11, set in 2007/2008.

Now, Genoa are reportedly keen to revive Sulemana’s career in Italy. The Rossoblu finished 13th in Serie A last term but struggled for goals, netting only 37 times – the sixth-worst attacking record in the division.

The club’s hierarchy sees the explosive winger as a potential solution to their creativity woes.

Will Southampton cash in?

Sulemana, who is under contract at St Mary’s until 2027, has yet to decide his future.

However, Southampton are believed to want at least €10 million (£8.5 million) for the former Rennes forward – a fee that could prove tempting as they prepare for life in the Championship.

Known for his blistering pace and dribbling ability, Sulemana has 19 caps for Ghana and was part of the Black Stars’ squad at the 2022 World Cup.

A move to Serie A could offer him a fresh start after a challenging spell in England.

What’s next?

Genoa are expected to step up their interest in the coming weeks as they look to bolster their attack.

For Southampton, offloading high-earning players may be a priority following their disastrous Premier League campaign.
