European glory at last! Doué dazzles as PSG crush Inter 5-0 in final
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have finally conquered Europe, lifting their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy in stunning style after demolishing Inter Milan 5-0 in a historic final at Munich’s Allianz Arena on Saturday, 31 May.
The French giants didn’t just win—they shattered records, securing the biggest margin of victory in a Champions League final and etching their name alongside football’s elite as only the 24th club to claim Europe’s most prestigious prize.
A night of firsts for PSG
The breakthrough came early, with former Inter defender Achraf Hakimi—now in PSG colours—firing his side ahead in the 12th minute.
But the star of the show was 19-year-old French sensation Désiré Doué, who delivered a performance beyond his years.
Not only did Doué assist Hakimi’s opener, but he then doubled PSG’s lead before half-time with a deflected strike.
After the break, he left fans in awe with a magnificent solo effort, putting the game beyond doubt.
Inter had no answer as Ousmane Dembélé sliced through their defence to set up Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for PSG’s fourth in the 73rd minute.
Then, 18-year-old substitute Senny Mayulu capped off a dream night, scoring just three minutes after coming on to complete the rout.
A new era for PSG?
This victory marks the culmination of the club’s long quest for European glory, having come close in 2020 only to fall short.
Under the lights in Munich, they delivered a statement win—one that could herald a new era of dominance.
For Inter, it was a night to forget. The Italian side, which last won the Champions League in 2010, was outclassed in every department, leaving manager Simone Inzaghi with plenty to ponder.
What’s next?
With the Champions League secured, PSG will now turn their attention to strengthening and defending their title next season, while Inter must regroup ahead of next season’s campaign.
One thing is certain: football history was made in Munich—and PSG’s name is now forever etched into the annals of the beautiful game.
