Ghana’s national beach volleyball teams faced a tough second day at the 2025 CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Championship, managing just one win in four matches on Wednesday, 26 June.

After a mixed opening day with three wins and three losses, the teams struggled to maintain momentum in the scorching Moroccan heat.

The men’s duo of Paul Akan and Abdul Hameed Ibrahim provided the only victory, keeping Ghana’s hopes alive in the tournament.

Women’s teams fall to Egypt and Mozambique

In the women’s division, both of Ghana’s pairs suffered defeats. Rashaka Katadat and Benedicta Akorli (Pool E) were overpowered by a dominant Egyptian side, losing 10-21, 11-21 in straight sets.

Later, Grace Dagadu and Joana Mensah (Pool F) fought hard but ultimately fell 16-21, 15-21 to Mozambique, marking their third consecutive loss in the competition.

Ghana’s Akan and Ibrahim shine again

Ghana’s brightest performers so far, Paul Akan and Abdul Hameed Ibrahim (Pool G), continued their impressive form with a commanding 23-21, 21-5 victory over Kenya. The win keeps them unbeaten in the tournament.

However, Emmanuel Adamitey and Nicholas Tetteh (Pool H) narrowly missed out in a thrilling three-set battle against Egypt.

After losing the first set 18-21, they stormed back to take the second 21-13, only to fall short in the decider, losing 7-15.
